Border Collie Info
The Border Collie is an Intelligent, loyal and affectionate dog that requires physical and mental activity to keep it satisfied. They have a double coat that requires grooming 2- 3 times per week and more often when shedding their undercoat. They love to swim, herd and compete in dog sport where their talents are not wasted. The following description is an excerpt from the Australian National Kennel Council Breed Standard. General Appearence: shall be thatof a well proportioned dog, the smooth outline showing quality, gracefulness and perfect balance, combined with sufficientsubstance to ensure that it is capable of enduring long periods of active duty in its intended task as a working sheepdog. Any tendancy to courseness or weediness is undesirable. Charachteristics: The Border Collie is highly intelligent, with an instictive tendancy to work and is readily responsive to training. Its keen, alert and eager expression add to its intelligent appearence, whilst its loyal and faithful nature demonstrates that it is at all timeskindly disposed towards stock. Any aspect of structure or temperamentforeign to a working dog is uncharachteristic. Colours: Black and White, Blue and white, Chocolate and white, Tricolour black,tan,white, red and white, Blue merle. Movement: The movement is free, smooth and tireless, with a minimum of liftof the feet, conveying the impression of the ability to move with great stealth. Border Collies are not for everyone.
